Digilocker services are now available on WhatsApp through the MyGov Helpdesk, giving the government’s citizen-centric digital services a boost. Among the Digilocker services are the creation and authentication of accounts, as well as the downloading of crucial documents such as the PAN card, driver’s licence, and vehicle registration certificate.

DigiLocker is a digital platform that eliminates the need for physical documents by issuing, storing, and authenticating them. Over 100 million people have now enrolled on Digilocker, and over 5 billion documents have been provided, according to the government.

According to the government, Digilocker would be a critical citizen service provided by MyGov on WhatsApp to promote digital inclusion and effective governance. Offering Digilocker services through the MyGov Helpdesk is a logical next step in providing citizens with easier access to important services via WhatsApp’s simple and accessible platform.

“The WhatsApp service will digitally empower millions by allowing them to access authentic documents and information immediately from their phones,” according to a government press release.

MyGov Helpdesk will now offer a package of services for integrated citizen support and effective governance, beginning with Digilocker services, according to the government. Over 80 million people have contacted the helpdesk thus far, downloading over 33 million immunisation certificates and scheduling millions of vaccination appointments across the country.

The MyGov chatbot on WhatsApp intends to establish a comprehensive administrative support system for users to access resources and services with new features like Digilocker.
