During his performance at Lollapalooza on Saturday, Lil Durk was struck by a pyrotechnic and is now taking time off to focus on his health.
There were two smoke flares on stage when the rapper, who was playing his 2020 hit “Back in Blood,” unintentionally walked into them during his performance. After the event, Durk can be seen stumbling and wiping his eyes with his shirt in videos that have been shared on social media.
As soon as someone on the microphone could be heard saying, “Woah, woah, you alright, bro?” the stage personnel rushed to his help. “[The smoke] rose straight into the air.” Durk took a few breaths to gather his thoughts before continuing the rest of his performance without leaving the stage.
Durk, on the other hand, appears to have suffered some long-term consequences as a result of the sad accident. As of Sunday, the rapper had a bandage over his right eye in the hospital.
“I’m taking a vacation and focusing on my health due to the event that happened on stage at Lollapalooza in Chicago,” he said in the description. “Last night, I wrapped up my show in front of my adoring audience. “Thank you for everything.”
In the comments section of Durk’s Instagram post, artists like Trippie Redd and Nav have sent their well wishes. Some festival goers are irate because the festival did not adequately safeguard its acts.
The four-day event, which wraps off Sunday night, featured an impressive roster of performers, including Durk. J. Cole, Big Sean and Jhené Aiko, Tomorrow X Together, and Willow Smith performed on Saturday. J-Hope, a member of South Korean boy band BTS, will lead Sunday’s main stage, making him the first South Korean performer to do so.
