If the newest claim from the rumour mill is to be believed, the Sony LinkBuds true wireless earbuds will get a follow-up in the near future – with the near future being Wednesday, May 18 if the rumour mill is to be believed.

The information comes from reliable source Jon Prosser, who claims that the earphones will be unveiled on that date. On May 12, he also expects the flagship Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones to be released.

We haven’t heard much about the Sony LinkBuds S so far, but there is a rumour that the hole in the centre of the earbuds will be replaced by a spherical vent near the ear canal to allow sound to pass through.

Taking the hit

Prosser also revealed the Sony LinkBuds S price: $199 (about £160/$AU280). Their predecessors were priced at $179 / £149 / AU$299, so we’re looking at a little more pricey prospect here.

It’s been a busy time for Sony leaks recently, with plenty of information on the Sony WH-1000XM5 leaking as well: the latest edition of Sony’s over-ear headphones should have improved battery life and smarter noise cancelling.

We should find out in the coming days, as both the headphones and the earbuds are expected to be presented within a week. As always, we’ll keep you updated on all of the latest news and developments.
